Harvey's last writing after coming home from Santa Rosa Rehab

  "Doubt Not"

I was driving down the highway to work as I had many times before. The sunrise shown in my face, Life was good!  As in my daily routine, I began to pray..."Give Thanks".  Business was coming together and I had earned respect at work.

So this, throughout my life as things teetered along I had wondered on a good week what would happen to screw it up and upset the rhythm.  I had never had it so good, even with life's stresses.

(this was all he had written)

To Harvey my knight in shining armor,

You were like a shooting star that came in to my life and lit the sky with brilliance beyond belief as you did for many.

You died in my arms with many loved ones around holding on to you. I hope you know how much you were loved by all.

You loved LIFE, Your Family and Friends, the Outdoors, and The Beatles.

You are whole again and at peace now.

Sleep with the angels My Love.

I love you "much" as there is!

Your Best Friend, Your Journey-Mate, Your Fishing Buddy,

Your Wife

Harvey fought so hard and it seemed as if he was going to heal and return to something that looked like normal life again.

Harvey got out of rehab on Sept. 28th and was doing so well. He was so happy to be home and was able to be somewhat independent. He would get on the scooter and go everywhere on the property checking things out. He was so looking forward to walking again and worked hard with the home therapist.

About a week and a half after coming home something happened that no one was able to explain. He may have had a heart attack. He began to lose ground. He was back in the hospital in October and then again came home but this time he was not the same. Then again he was in the hospital days before Thanksgiving and this time Hospice was sent. He rallied for Thanksgiving and we had a good day. He was doing fairly well on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Then I believe he may have had a stroke on Saturday. Hospice was called in on Sunday. Many friends came to visit him and he was surrounded by love all through the night. We played his beloved Beatles music and kissed and loved on him all through Sunday night. He took his last breath in my arms at the home of his dreams Monday morning at 9:47. He was surrounded by love with my daughter Tammy and son in law Graham along with many friends were with him touching and loving him. I believe Harvey was just tired of fighting and decided to cross over where he could be whole again.

My heart aches to think of life without my best friend and "love of my life". The only sense of peace comes from knowing that he is free from pain and struggle.

Harvey HAS been with me already. Early Monday morning before he crossed over I was sitting on the front porch looking out at the stables. I could see the lighted cross that my son in law built and the lighted star that Harvey built last year that were mounted on the fence. As I was staring at the star I noticed a figure sitting on the fence rocking back and forth, kicking his heals like a little boy. I knew it was Harvey being set free. I called out to two of our friends that were here with us and they saw the same thing. It gave us all a sense of peace seeing him out there.

I think Harvey now understands how much he was loved by all.

Dec. 2, 2006 many were here to share memories and hugs. I know Harvey was present and was so happy to see everyone. Thank you and love to all.

Our son in law Graham made a finally resting place for Harvey.

Harvey loved hawks so as you see there is a hawk taking flight.

Our daughter Tammy made a wreath. The two roses at the bottom are Harvey & I and the other three flowers represent our daughter Tammy, son in law Graham and granddaughter Bethany Laura Lee.
